What is the difference between city and state

The chief executive of a city is the Mayor. Whereas, a state is a larger area, which is often governed by its own government, known as the State Government. These state governments run as part or a sub-part of the federal government.

They have to ensure that the laws mandated by the federal government are implemented in the state. The state governments also have the power to draft their own laws which will be implemented within the state boundaries. A state is usually bigger in area than a city, and it often incorporates various cities, counties, regions, villages, towns, etc.

There are thousands of urban towns and cities globally, of which some are hosting over one million people. While the terms town and cities are often used interchangeably to refer to the same place, the two are actually different types of urban centers. However, their definitions and official designations vary by country or regions within the same country.

Although towns and cities are urban centers, they generally differ by geographical size, population, and level of infrastructural development. The main difference between the two urban centers is that cities are much larger and more developed than towns.

However, a place referred to as a city in one country may be a town or a settlement in another country and vice versa. For instance, a settlement with at least people in Denmark or Sweden qualifies to be a town. Cities are distinguished from other urban centers like towns and suburban by their relatively large size, function, population, and status conferred by the government. A city is defined as an urban center with a larger geographical area and population than a town. It is a densely populated area with a legally defined boundary and whose population are engaged in non-agricultural activities as sources of livelihood.

A city is considered the most developed urban center in a country and boasts of advanced infrastructural systems, including housing, transportation, communication, and other social amenities. Most cities have a central business district CBD , downtown, or city center that serves as political, economic, and religious centers.

Cities also have public spaces like natural sites, parks, and sports facilities. A city is comprised of a relatively large population that is described as having some sort of historical establishment and legal system.

Cities have their own court systems, law enforcement, fire departments, and some form of medical care centers. Some cities have utility services, housing divisions, and even public transportation systems that can help move the community from one side of the city to another.

There are city limits which surround all cities which signifies to travelers that they are leaving what is the city and are either traveling through another city or the county till they reach another city. A county is a geographically defined area that is typically divided for political purposes. Counties can vary in size and separate a state into different areas, similar to a province. There are a many cities and towns that fall within a given county, and they are all tied together by political leadership.

There can be many different political viewpoints among the citizens of any given county, however they are tied together in voting for the same people. A county is larger in population than any one city that is within the county. In Alaska and Louisiana the word county is not used, Louisiana refers to these areas as parishes and Alaska refers to them as boroughs.

On average, there are 62 counties within any given state in the United States. Texas has more counties than any other state, and Delaware has the least amount of counties with only 3. The largest and most populated county is Los Angeles county, California, and the smallest is Loving county, Texas, with only 64 residents.

Cities and counties vary across the United States both in area and in population. Town: is small part of city. City: a place with important facilities and enough population and area which is bigger then a village. Thanks for answer. I have a question again. Are Alabama and Ankara same like state?
