At the Forefront of the Automotive and Motorsports Industries Located onsite is VIRginia Motorsport Technology Park , an industrial park that is home to some of the leading automotive and motorsports companies in the world. Ten minutes later, 3 car load of people with tent camping tags pulled in and took the next 3 RV spaces. No one hassled them, and they stayed there through Friday night and Saturday. The more I think about this, the more it bugs me.

But then I guess we could have moved and come back to that spot after the captain left. Will I come back to VIR? Yes, it is a great spot to watch road races. Will I camp at VIR again? I don't think it is worth the cost, and it is really not worth a hassle. I go to a lot of racetracks and this experience was like being at camp! My husband does club racing and this year we decided to check out VIR.

We stayed in the villas right at the track. We were there for three night. Also, at the track is two restaurants, one down at the paddock with better than typical track food, the selection is bigger than any track I have ever been to, including a decent veggie burger.

The other a full service restaurant up in a different location up on a hill with woods all around. Plus, they have a good sized pool for people staying at the track overnight. Great experience. Definitely up in my top three for track experiences so far. If you are going for just the day there are plenty of good places to see the races from.

Many of which are in the shade, but as all tracks go, it can get extremely hot in the summer in the sun so take precautions. We loved the available hook ups to be able to hook our stacker up to power. The food sold at the concession was really good as well. Also we appreciated the clean bathroom. Great track and super fast.

Eric M 94 contributions. Excellent place to watch great racing. This is road racing, like Formula One. The track is beautiful and there are tons of great spots to drop a seat or a blanket and watch and listen to the cars. Don't trust anything they tell you!! This place deserves much less than 1 star, but fortunately for them 1 star is the least rating possible.

Their website virnow. Since we live 2 hours away, I called up to confirm this. Nobody answered any of the phone extensions. Instead, you have to leave them your contact details and they will get back to you. I got a call back from the receptionist who confirmed that the Kart Track was open and that Patrick would be there until 7pm. It was around 1pm at the time of the call. She also said that a reservation was not needed since it was a Saturday. We drove and got there at around 4pm only to find out that the track was closed and that Patrick had left for the day after a motor event was over at 1pm?!?!

Next they ask if we have a reservation and we told them that we were informed that a reservation was not needed. With the help of the Director of Karting we tried to get Patrick to come back but our efforts were futile.

Now the new excuse that we got was that the track was closed until March because of debris around the corners from recent snowfalls in February.

Any idea why nobody else on the property or their website or their phone operators knew that they were closed prior to us arriving?? And if there is any truth to this excuse, how come a motor event was held a few hours ago on this unsafe track?

They gave us some 'discount' coupons hoping that it would make us forget all of this. How do they expect anyone to accept or redeem discount coupons when the track is closed even if they say it is open? Needless to say, we spent a rare warm day in February driving to and from VIR. These people do not care about their customers and their employees come and go as they please. I would never again let these clueless, irresponsible and truth concealing people decide the fate of everybody's day.

Link roads allow parts of this internal course to be combined with the full course to create 'Grand' east and west variants, although these are relatively infrequently used for competition.

An expanded pit lane was added to the Patriot Course in In early , Siegel retired from ownership and Nyholm became one of the only female majority owners of a racetrack in the USA. She has continued to develop the facility and its motorsport resort business model, which has been much copied by other circuits around the world.

Prior to the start of the season, the track's Full Course was repaved for the first time since , widening the track by six feet at several locations to allow easier passing, moving the start and finish line to just after pit row for better viewing for spectators. The North Paddock was also repaved to ensure an even and smooth surface for fans and drivers alike. The track also features full resort facilities, including three hotels, several restaurants and activities such as karting and skeet shooting.

The nearest international airport is Piedmont Triad International Airport at Greensboro, North Carolina, around 70 miles to the south west. The circuit can be accessed from Highway 58, exiting on to the Milton Highway south, through the community of Milton and then left onto Racetrack Road. VIR is on the left after one mile.
